burgers

Tonight was kind of a bust.  I made burgers and was going to make oven fries because that is a good combo for my husband.  Let's call him, Beelzebub.  Beelzebub wanted to make a new recipe for brussle sprouts to add to the dinner.  This is sounding like a nice idea to me because that man doesn't cook much and sure likes to eat.  Our kids wanted to go on a bike ride right when I was getting started with dinner.  So, naturally I thought it would be so much easier if I just stick the whole potato in the oven instead of all that chopping and seasoning.  So I turn on the oven to 400 degrees and put in three potatoes and we are off for a family bike ride at 5:30.  About a half block into our bike ride Beelzebub and I decide it is too f'ing cold to be out riding bikes and we turn the family around and head home.  This was the perfect ride time for our 6 year old.  We are back home by 5:33 and I get to making dinner.  I decide to make turkey bacon for the baked potatoes and get everything out for the burgers.  Pickles, onions (damn, I forgot the onions!), tomatoes, raw cheddar cheese, ketchup, mustard, veganaise, sour cream, butter, green onions, brussle sprouts, kale, more green onions.  I'm chopping and chopping and chopping and washing things and wiping counter tops and getting everything ready to cook.  Beelzebub asks when he should start his brussle sprounts and I say how about 30 more mins.  He said are those potatoes done.  I say lemme check.  These potatoes are not done, and seem to not even be cooking.  I begin to have a mild panicking feeling inside because what will I do to replace these potatoes.  This man is the hungriest person I know.  He is also very fit and thin and burns so many calories.  He can't just eat a burger, he will die. You might be thinking, Donka, just put the potatoes in the microwave.  Well, my friend, it is a long story, but I don't use the microwave due to its creation of free radicals and killing of nutrients in the food it zaps.  We had burgers (YUM!) and brussle sprouts with kale and some mustard sauce (YUCK!).  We ate at 6:45 tonight and it is now 8:44 and those potatoes are just now done.  I told Beelzebub to have one as his bedtime snack and he said all the turkey bacon is gone.  This man walks around starving and thinking of food constantly.  He will probably not eat the potato and talk about how hungry he is when he gets in bed in 15 mins.
